King Saud University
King Saud University was established in 1957 as the premier institution of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since then, it has been leading the nation as its prestigious dynamic, and research-intensive institution.
Since the beginnings and with the generous governmental support KSU was able to augment the country and the world with highly qualified personals, administrators, physicians, lawyers and professionals in all walks of life. That helped the country and its people to excel in all fields of knowledge from medicine to engineering, agriculture, sciences and the humanities.
Besides this governmental support KSU worked on diversifying its resources and achieve financial sustainability. It invested in establishing different means such as Riyadh Valley Company, KSU Endowment, University Medical City, King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, and Students Fund. It also invested in many education training centers, research programs, and investment projects through KSU facilities and many non-educational assets. All these efforts were done in light of the university’s vision to be a leading center of excellence and a promoter of knowledge-based economy and its mission as the leading independent and self-reliant knowledge center of the country. In a practical step to achieve this, and since January of 2023, KSU moved from being a fully governmental body under the Saudi Ministry of Education to more of an independent non-profit body under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). This will hopefully give the university the freedom and support to lead better and be among the top leading universities worldwide.
